Work Front Identification

Smart Process Wizard Start here

Select one primary work process. The wizard displays standardized High Energy Types, process-specific Hazard Sources, and suggested controls. Complete a separate PSIPA assessment for every additional process.

Choose one process, review the energy types and source prompts with the crew, then apply them. Conduct a separate assessment for each different process.

No process selected

Choose one primary work process to show suggested High Energy Types, process-specific Hazard Sources, and controls. A separate assessment is required for each additional process.

High Energy Type Identification

Answer each pre-job verification item. Any “No” should be resolved before work proceeds.

Serious Injury & Fatality Exposure Review

The crew has reviewed the Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) exposure associated with this work process and understands the High Energy Controls required for each verified High Energy Type.

Work Front Hazard Review & High Energy Control Verification

Review the work front and complete High Energy Control Verification (HECV) for each verified High Energy Type before work starts. This combined section links each hazard source to the controls confirmed at the work front.

Part A - Work Front Hazard Review

Select the applicable High Energy Type for each work-front exposure and confirm whether the exposure is controlled.

Part B - HECV (High Energy Control Verification)

Add each High Energy Type, identify the equipment type and hazard source, then select the required energy-type-specific direct controls, indirect controls, and additional/site-specific controls. Each category starts with one dropdown; use Add Control to add more and Remove to delete extras.

Verification definitions

Direct Controls: Controls that eliminate, isolate, physically prevent, or directly interrupt the High Energy Type.

Indirect Controls: Controls that reduce exposure, improve awareness, or support safe execution when direct controls are in place.

Verified: The control is present, functioning, and confirmed at the work front.

Not Verified: The control is missing, ineffective, unclear, or cannot be confirmed. Treat as a deficiency or stop-work trigger where life-critical controls are affected.

SIF Exposure Review: Crew confirmation that potential high-consequence exposure was discussed and that the required High Energy Controls are understood.

Verification Deficiencies & Follow-Up Auto generated

This section is populated from the assessment data. Review each verification deficiency, assign an owner, and document required corrective actions before closing the assessment.
